History in Action!
Here at Chicago Mahogany Foundation, we are driven to do our part in making sure that the world knows the true history and value of Chicago. What began as a Chicago history page on TikTok has now become a proud recognized Not-for-profit charity dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the rich history of Chicago. Our founder, Dilla, believes that once a person knows the history of a space, they are bound to respect that space. And once you have respect for a place, your perspective about that place changes. Armed with his father's lesson that "a rising tide raises all ships," Dilla believes that changing the perspective city wide is key to raising a sense of civic pride in all of Chicago's neighborhoods, not just downtown. By exposing students, civic leaders, residents, corporate leaders and tourist to the intersectionality of our shared histories and stories, Dilla's work continues to uplift and connect Chicago.

Chicago Mahogany Foundation provides free and discounted neighborhood tours throughout the south and west sides of Chicago. If your school or NFP organization would like to discuss the possibility of receiving a free neighborhood tour please contact us. We take groups on enriching tours through Chicago neighborhoods such as Bronzeville, Bridgeport, Roseland, Pullman, Pilsen, Little Village, North Lawndale, Austin, South Chicago, Auburn-Gresham,
Chatham, + more.

Dilla is an award-winning historian. He has been named the 2022 Chicago Tourism Ambassador of the Year by Choose Chicago, the tourism agency of the city. He is a recipient of both the Chicago Public Library Foundation's 21st Century Award, as well as a Studs Terkel Uplifting Voices Award.
Dilla has presented Chicago history lessons and lectures to institutions such as the University of Chicago, LaSalle University (PA), Northwestern University, and a number of partners of the Chicago Community Colleges network. Dilla has also given lessons to corporate groups such as: Meta (Facebook); Microsoft; Google; Stork; Shriver Center of Poverty Law; & Chicago Cares. Dilla most recently represented Chicago in Amsterdam for Bloomberg's City Labs.
Dilla is a member of the Black Chicago History Initiate Steering Committee and a proud partner of the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, and the Chicago Fire.
